Chapter 8 - I Gained a Large Amount of CP
What emerged from between the trees wasn’t a goblin but a wolf.
And it wasn’t just any wolf. It was an enormous wolf towering so high that I had to look up.
Its fur was a beautiful silver-white, shimmering magnificently under the moonlight.
Its physique was both muscular and sleek, exuding a perfect balance of power and grace.
Its eyes were a transparent emerald green, carrying an eerie intensity as if it could see right through me.
...N-no matter how I looked at it, this was no ordinary wolf.

"Level 456?!"
When I activated my Appraisal, I could only see its name and level.
I had no idea what the average level of monsters in this world was, but such a number couldn’t possibly be normal.
Why was a monster like this in the forest? It didn’t make any sense.
"You’re eating something that looks delicious, no?"
As I stared at it dumbfounded, the White Fenrir opened its mouth and said those words.
Following its gaze, I saw it staring hungrily at the Wagyu sirloin steak I was eating.
"A monster that can talk?"
"Of course. For a high-ranking monster like me, speaking the human tongue is no challenge at all."
I didn’t know how high-ranking this White Fenrir was, but at least he seemed like he wouldn’t attack me right away, which was a relief.
"More importantly, I’m interested in that savory meat. Hand it over."
"Ah, if you come any closer, the barrier will—"
"Huh?! What is this?!"
Before I could finish warning him, the White Fenrir moved and hit its head against the barrier deployed by my camper van.
」
"It’s the barrier deployed by my camper van."
"Kampeh ban? That incomprehensible white carriage is some kind of magical tool? And what an annoying barrier it is."
Glaring at the translucent barrier before him, the White Fenrir slammed its enormous tail against it with tremendous force.
The barrier groaned, emitting a creaking sound as if screaming.
[Warning! The barrier's durability is decreasing!]
At the same time, a window popped up in my field of vision.
The barrier, which hadn’t budged against the goblin, was apparently losing durability rapidly after just one attack from the White Fenrir.
Well, of course. My opponent was a high-ranking monster at level 456. It wasn’t even worth comparing to a level 3 goblin.
"What?! Even though I wasn’t using my full strength, it blocked an attack from me, the White Fenrir...?!"
The White Fenrir seemed genuinely surprised that the barrier was still standing. He must have been confident in his attack power.
"Humph, such an impudent barrier. I’ll definitely destroy it with my next strike!"
...What happens if this barrier breaks? Can I immediately redeploy it?
[If the barrier is destroyed, it will require a 180-minute cooldown and 10,000 CP to redeploy.]
As I wondered about it, an additional message appeared in the window.
So I couldn’t redeploy it immediately? That would mean sleeping in the car without a barrier and coughing up an extra 10,000 CP. I didn’t have that kind of luxury right now.
While I panicked, the White Fenrir lowered its stance, emitting an ominous aura.
Even though I was inside the barrier, the air itself trembled violently.
It was clearly preparing some kind of powerful move.
The barrier had screamed from just a casual tail swipe.
If it hit the barrier with a serious attack, there was no way it would hold.
"[Wolf Fang Sky Rend—]"
"W-Wait! I’ll let you into the barrier, so please stop that dangerous attack!"
"...Hmm."
As I shouted loudly, the White Fenrir, who was just about to initiate its attack motion, suddenly froze in place.
It looked frustrated, as though stopping the technique halfway left an unpleasant feeling, clearly wanting to release it fully.
"If you unleash that attack, not just the barrier but the sirloin steak will be blown away too!"
"...It can’t be helped. I wouldn’t want to ruin the steak."
Looking visibly unsatisfied, the White Fenrir completely halted its big move.
"I’ll let you into the barrier, but promise you won’t attack me, alright?"
"......"
"Why are you silent?!"
"Fine, fine. I won’t attack you. Just let me in quickly."
When I protested without thinking, the White Fenrir nodded reluctantly, as if even responding was a chore.
It seemed like he just couldn’t be bothered to answer.
Ignoring such an important question was an annoying trait.
To be honest, letting a monster I’d just met into the barrier filled me with fear, but if I refused, he would have likely just broken through by force.
In that case, taking a gamble and negotiating seemed like the better option.
I made up my mind and granted the White Fenrir permission to enter the barrier.
"You should be able to come in now."
With that, the White Fenrir casually stepped into the barrier.
Up close, it was really massive.
It was far larger than my camper van, easily over ten meters in length.
"Hand over the sirloin steak."
"S-Sure."
It was already half-eaten, but the only sirloin steak available was the one in front of me.
I handed over the plate, and the White Fenrir devoured the entire steak in a single bite.
The moment he finished, his jade-green eyes widened, and he howled loudly at the moon.
The sheer volume made me instinctively cover my ears.
"D-delicious! What is this meat...?!"
The White Fenrir quivered with emotion as he asked.
"Uh, it’s called Wagyu beef, a type of meat from my world meant for eating."
"Wagyu beef... such tenderness, such exquisite fat."
It seemed the White Fenrir had taken quite a liking to Wagyu beef.
"I want more. Give me more."
"Huh?! That’s all the Wagyu beef I have!"
"Don’t lie to me."
"I’m not lying!"
"My [Discernment] skill says you’re lying. There must be more somewhere, right?"
It must have detected that I could prepare more Wagyu beef by spending CP.
"Ugh!"
Its fierce, piercing eyes bore into me.
From the moment we met, my life and death had been entirely in his hands.
At this point, the only option left was to satisfy him by preparing more Wagyu sirloin steak.
"F-Fine! I’ll prepare it, so just wait a bit. It takes time to cook!"
"Hurry up."
I entered the camper van and operated the device, spending about 9,000 CP to purchase a five-kilogram block of Wagyu sirloin.
I couldn’t afford the highest-grade meat by the kilogram, so I settled for discounted, slightly flawed products.
Setting up two frying pans over the campfire, I cut the block of meat into portions with a knife.
I melted beef fat in the pans and placed two sirloin steaks in each.
After sprinkling salt and black pepper, I began cooking them.
Meanwhile, the White Fenrir growled impatiently, pressuring me with "Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet?" so I kept the cooking time short, serving the steaks rare.
"Here you go."
"Delicious! But it’s nowhere near enough! More!"
The White Fenrir snatched the sirloin steaks with his massive mouth.
I kept frying sirloin steaks as fast as I could, handing them over as soon as they were ready.
The steaks disappeared into the White Fenrir’s mouth as quickly as I could make them, forcing me to scramble to cook the next batch.
After repeating this process over and over, the Wagyu sirloin finally ran out.
"Is there no more? This amount is insufficient!"
"There’s no more!"
"...Are you sure about that? My [Discernment] skill says there’s still a slight inconsistency."
The White Fenrir bared its fangs, clearly unwilling to accept any more deception.
"I need CP (Camping Points) to prepare more meat! But I’ve run out of CP after all that!"
"Camping Points? How do you earn more of these points?"
"...The fastest way to replenish them is by gathering magic stones."
It seemed CP could also be earned by driving, but the amount was minimal.
There was no way I could accumulate enough to buy more Wagyu beef right away.
"Magic stones, huh?! That’s simple! I’ll hunt monsters and gather magic stones! You stay here and wait!"
With that declaration, the White Fenrir dashed off at an incredible speed, disappearing from sight.
...It seemed it had gone hunting for monsters to collect CP.
A short while later, the White Fenrir returned, carrying a massive prey in its jaws.
"Hey, I caught a monster!"
It re-entered the barrier and dropped the prey onto the ground.
What was this creature with a brown body, whiskers, and wings?
"A level 56 wyvern?!"
Using Appraisal, I discovered it was a monster known as a wyvern.
Its stats were incredibly high, rivaling the strength of the three summoned heroes.
"I hunted other monsters as well, but this forest is full of weaklings. Their magic stones are of poor quality."
As the White Fenrir swung his tail, purple crystals clattered to the ground.
It seemed he had only brought back the best—the wyvern—while dismantling the rest on the spot to extract just their magic stones.
While I stood there dumbfounded, the White Fenrir swiftly dismantled the Wyvern’s body, extracting the magic stone from its chest.
"Can magic stones of this caliber buy Wagyu beef?"
The White Fenrir adeptly balanced the magic stone on its tail and offered it to me.
The magic stone, taken from a level 56 Wyvern, was large and emitted a particularly intense glow. It looked like it could yield a substantial amount of CP.
I returned to the camper van and pressed the magic stone against the device.
[Convert the wyvern’s magic stone into CP? YES or NO]
When I selected YES, the magic stone was absorbed into the device.
I checked the CP counter in the top-right corner. The mere 36 CP I had earlier skyrocketed to about 100,036.
"Whoa! Incredible! That’s an insane amount of CP!"
"How much did it increase?"
"With the CP from just this one Wyvern’s magic stone, you can eat ten times the amount of Wagyu beef as before!"
"Is that true?! Then hurry up and prepare it!"
"Alright, alright. I’ll get cooking, so just hold on for a bit."
With such a significant amount of CP replenished thanks to the White Fenrir, I couldn’t hold back now.
Using the Shop function, I purchased Wagyu sirloin steaks by the kilogram and began mass-producing steaks to satisfy the White Fenrir’s insatiable appetite.
