Chapter 182 - A Father's Choice

Prev | TOC | Next (This is a wrap-up chapter, covering Ivano and Ozwald, followed by Marcella in the latter half. This chapter also marks Tobias's departure, so please be advised if this is a difficult subject for you.) "Thank you so much for everything you've done for us!" "I'm delighted to hear that your wife has recovered. You must be looking forward to next year." A week had passed since the bracelet was completed. In the drawing room of Ozwald's residence, Marcella bowed deeply. Ozwald and Elmelinda, seated before him, returned his greeting with warm smiles. Beside Marcella, Ivano also expressed his gratitude politely before glancing at the gifts they had brought. "It's only a small token of our appreciation, but please accept it." Marcella had brought two cases of scorpion liquor, twenty-four bottles in all. Ozwald had requested twelve bottles, but Marcella had insisted on bringing an additional case. Chapter 181 - A Friend to Be Proud Of

Prev | TOC | Next Beneath the clear blue sky of an autumn day, Dahlia found herself quickening her pace as she left the riding grounds behind. Three days after giving Irma the bracelet, Dahlia had come to the temple. Unfortunately, Volf was at the royal castle today. Having missed some training while he was resting, he was probably making up for it with extra effort right about now. The other day, she seemed to have dozed off while Volf was still there. She would never, ever admit that, half-asleep, she had reached out to see if he was nearby. "Good morning, Marcella-san." "Good morning, Dahlia-chan! Thanks to you, Irma's do...

Chapter 122 - Desire

Prev | TOC | Next After finishing our rest on the eighth floor, we descended further and spent a week on the ninth floor of the No-Hunger Dungeon. Lady Auf had been running miniature trains, each about the size of a small wooden crate, along several makeshift railway tracks she had laid out. She repeatedly coupled the little wooden-box trains together, ran them along the tracks, and then left them sitting idle. Apparently, she was trying to determine the limits at which the energy generated by the trains' vibrations traveling through the tracks would cause the dungeon to absorb the railway—or leave it alone. The problem was, it was incredibly boring. She would run the model trains back and forth along the tracks several times, stop them, run them back and forth again, and stop them. Then she'd change their weight and stop them again, or alter the number of coupled cars and stop them once more. The cycle went on and on. After each test, we had to wait two whole days to observe...
